Demetre graduated with honors, earning a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art in the mid-80s. Early on, his filmmaking and photography showed significant influence from US-European collaborations. His early years as an artist were largely devoted to painting and drawing. Art from the early 1980s incorporates cubist characteristics, utilizing structured shapes and figures presented in vibrant hues and confident brushwork. His art visually expresses ideas, concepts, and the imaginary, merging dreamlike visuals, cubist shapes, pure abstract forms, and figures. The 90s are characterized by abstract figurative forms, themes from ancient classical history, and mythology. Art from the new millennium incorporates vibrant colors, diverse shapes, and color-focused action painting. The latest creations are original and unrestrained, avoiding a singular style. The goal is to foster a direct conversation between the viewer and the artwork through mixed media exploration. Mostly, the artwork is acrylic on canvas, pastel and ink on paper, or mixed media. His current filmmaking research is centered on script development for historical dramas, and film development.
